From: jbardos@premierline.com Subject: Fall 2005 Western Collegiate Racquetball Conference Tournament Date: October 27, 2005 10:53:53 PM PDT To: wcrc@googlegroups.com Reply-To: wcrc@googlegroups.com Hi All, Saturday is the big day, and the tournament is shaping up quite nicely. Here are some final details about the tournament. The tournament time and number of courts is limited, so we need people to arrive on time - before 9 am - to keep the tournament on schedule. You can contact me at anytime at: (831) 335 3308. TOURNAMENT START TIME The tournament will start promptly at 9 am, Saturday Oct. 29. We have limited time and courts, however we can fit this tournament nicely into one day if we start promptly at 9 am. We will make every effort to accommodate people, however after 9 am, we will start to forfeit matches for people who are not ready to play. The building opens at 8 am and if you arrive early you can start to warm up on the courts, and we can even get matches started early. Matches involving Sacramento State players will start promptly at 9:30 am Saturday, due to the additional distance they are traveling. Notes: - It will take time to "arrive", get signed in, get situated, and get onto a court. Consequently, you need to arrive 30 minutes in advance - a 9 am match start means arriving by 8:30. - Due to our limited time and court availability, it is difficult to try to schedule match times, and stagger start times, and still fit the tournament into one day. We need to have the matches starting as soon as possible and running back-to-back as quickly as possible. TOURNAMENT RULES Due to time and space limitations, the following rules will be in affect: - Matches are 2 out of 3 games. - The first 2 games are to 11 points, and - The 3rd game, if necessary, is to 7 points. - All games are decided by 1 point - first player to 11, or 7, points wins. - Use the 10-second rule - 10 seconds between recovering the ball and serving. - 5 minutes of warm up time before a match. - Matches are self-refereed. - All other USRA rules apply. TOURNAMENT COSTS & FOOD The tournament costs $15 and must be paid when you arrive. This cost covers snacks, drinks, lunch, and a "free" racquetball glove for all players! Please bring cash. We recommended bringing additional snacks. Parking will also cost money ... PARKING We have 2 to 3 parking passes per school. When you arrive, park in the parking lot below the RSF. Immediately go into the RSF and get a parking pass from us, then place the parking pass in your car. The parking passes cost $8. There is additional parking information and costs below. ROSTERS The attached files are the roster of all of the players, and the tournament draws. If you find significant issues with the placement of players, let us know before Saturday, and we will try to make accommodations. (Please see subsequent email for attachements.) TOURNAMENT FORMAT The Women's division will be a 6-player round-robin. There are 3 Men's Divisions, each run using the "olympic format". NOTES: - Points are awarded based on your final standing at the end of the tournament and are NOT accumulated over the course of the tournament. - You must win at least one match, by the end of the tournament, to be awarded any points. Points will be totaled for a team, and the team with the most points wins. FACILITIES Lockers - People can use day lockers on a first come first served basis and should bring their own locks as locks often run out. Parking - There is metered parking on the street and two public pay parking lots across from the gym. If the parking under the building is open then people can park there, but is also metered. Towels - Towels are provided in the locker rooms, workout towels are also available in the lobby - all no fee. You should bring at least one towel of your own.
